Deportation Prevented -
Asylum Granted

February 25, 2019

In 2017 or client came to us distraught and terrified over the prospects of having to go to Immigration Court. He was being deported as a result of his prior attorney doing a poor job of case prep, client preparation, etc. Prior counsel failed to show up at the interview. Our client comes to ArvandLaw and we get our Asylum Team on his case immediately. Between 2017 and 2019 we gathered evidence, conducted interviews, spoke to witnesses, drafted memos, found corroborating evidence, received a pysch. evaluation, etc.

Affirmative Asylum Approved

February 25, 2019

Client came to us in late December 2017 distraught and shaken by the possibility of having to return to their home country after making the difficult choice to convert from one religion to another. Abandoning their religion and adopting a new one is a crime in the country of origin and would most certainly have been killed for exercising their basic human right to religious freedom. This case was given priority scheduling by USCIS under the new scheduling priorities issued for Affirmative Asylum on January 29, 2018.

Same-Sex Marriage Green Card Approved

May 23, 2017

In May of 2017 our firm was contacted by a same-sex couple. They were distraught because they thought that for immigration purposes USCIS would not allow for a Same Sex Petition. However that is not the case. When Same Sex Marriage was legalized nationwide as a result of the Supreme Court ruling, the Federal Government must now recognize same sex marriage.

Green Card Petition for Same Sex Couple approved and Beneficiary wife received her Green Card.

Asylum/Withholding Of Removal Case

January 2017

In the final days of President Obama's Presidency we had one of our biggest Asylum/Withholding of Removal Cases granted by the Immigration Judge under the Convention Against Torture. Our client was granted Withholding of Removal to a country that would surely have resulted in his execution should he have been returned. This was one of the most difficult cases that our office has dealt with. Our client had served time for possession of a controlled substance in a foreign country and arrived here in the United States on a fake/forged/or stolen passport.

Green Card Reinstated

January 1, 2017

In late 2016 our firm was contacted by a young Afghani woman who was the victim of a vicious Notario scammer. A Notario is an unlicensed and unauthorized representative who promise vulnerable immigrant populations with guaranteed results in pursuing their immigration claim.

Case Summary: Young Afghan woman submits papers to USCIS to remove conditions on her green card. Seeks the help of a Notario in trying to remove these conditions. USCIS sends out a Request For Evidence. Our client never received these documents because she was the victim of this Notario. Green Card is revoked and that made her removable. We submitted an I-290B Motion to Reopen and Reconsider.

Result:

Green Card Reinstated and valid for 10 Years
